The HVAC system (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) is intended to make the indoor environment comfortable and suitable. There are different types of HVAC units, each with its own set of pros and cons. There are several types of HVAC units available in the market, namely split systems, hybrid systems, duct-free systems, and packaged heating and air systems.
Listed below are the primary types of HVAC systems: 1. Heating & Cooling Split Systems
Among the most common types of HVAC systems. The system is split among two main units, one for heating and one for cooling. These systems’ indoor and outdoor units are easily recognizable. These HVAC units have cooling systems outside, that uses refrigerants, coils, and compressors to cool air, while using fans to blow out hot air. Most units are also packaged with purifiers and humidifiers. This ensures that the indoor environment is kept comfortable despite climatic conditions. These systems are commonly used since they are most generally applicable without environmental factors or specific requirements.
2. Hybrid Split Systems
Hybrid system types of HVAC’s are like split systems, with some basic differences. This HVAC system carries hybrid heating systems, among its unique features, lowering energy costs. The ability to switch between gas power, which is quicker and more complete, to electricity, which is quieter and more efficient, enables freedom in determining how the indoor environment temperate is to be controlled. This system relies on traditional ducts and thermostats, providing the advantages of a split system with the added benefit of energy conservation and reducing utility bills.
3. Duct Free (Mini-Split) Systems
A duct-free or mini-split system is a unique system with large advantages for specific applications. These HVAC units are individual units in each room, providing greater control. These units are mounted on walls, indoors, while attached to an outdoor compressor. Energy conservation is an added benefit of this HVAC system They require regular cleaning and maintenance as well. 4. Packaged Heating & Air Conditioning Systems
Packaged Heating & Air Conditioning Systems are the most niche among the types of HVAC units. The system is a contained heating and air unit stored within the house. The compact nature of this unit makes it handy and allows it to be placed in smaller indoor spaces. The packaged HVAC system contains everything, including the compressor, evaporator and condenser in a single unit typically placed on the roof or near the foundation. It fulfills both cooling and heating requirements within the indoor environment.
